The REHAU noble matt collection, the RAUKANTEX eco and evo edgebands and the editing of the printed brochure for surfaces all came away winners. The three products impressed the jury for one of Germany’s most prestigious design prizes.
Once a year, a top-class international jury presents the German Design Award created by the German Design Council. The award aims to promote a design-oriented economy. Accordingly, products that are groundbreaking in the international design scene are presented with awards in various categories every year. This year, the jury felt that no less than three products by REHAU Furniture Solutions met their requirements.
REHAU noble matt collection: winner for Excellent Product Design
Of all the products entered in the ‘Excellent Product Design’ category, REHAU’s noble matt collection was chosen as the winner. Matt surfaces, either completely uniform or combined with high-quality contrasting materials, add elegance to trendy living spaces. The noble matt collection enables carpenters, designers and industrial partners to create furniture and rooms that have a seamless design and a contemporary feel. The coordinated designs of the surfaces, edgebands and storage make this possible. The attractive appearance is accompanied by a pleasant, velvety feel with soft touch and anti-fingerprint technology.
A new product was also introduced to the noble matt range just in time for the announcement of the award: worktops can now also be ordered in RAUVISIO noir.
REHAU surfaces brochure: winner for Excellent Communications Design
The jury also decided that the way our world of surfaces is presented to customers and partners was worthy of a German Design Award. The brochure for REHAU’s surfaces ended up on the winner’s podium in the category of ‘Excellent Communications Design – Editorial’. The brochure was revised completely while establishing the new noble matt collection. This creative achievement has now been rewarded, with the coveted trophy being presented for the editorial.
RAUKANTEX eco & evo: winner for Excellent Product Design
REHAU is sustainable – and also enables its customers to use products that conserve natural resources. This approach is demonstrated perfectly by the RAUKANTEX eco & evo edgeband products. In RAUKANTEX eco, REHAU has developed an edgeband composed of 50% post-industrial recycled material. RAUKANTEX evo is based on non-fossil raw materials, the use of which does not create any additional demand for crude oil for the PP base material of the edgeband. The jury of the German Design Awards honoured these innovations with an award in the category of ‘Excellent Product Design – Eco Design’, which was introduced to show that design and sustainability are not mutually exclusive.
‘Awards like the German Design Award are a great confirmation and sign of appreciation for our new themes, while also, of course, being a huge compliment to the teams concerned,’ said Hans Peter Mehnert, Head of Product Management Furniture Systems and Components. ‘To have three winners this year in three different areas shows us that we are on the right track with our innovation strategy.’
