Kitchen for a detached house in Gauja-Tal

Sigulda is the gateway to Gauja National Park in Latvia. A prestigious project from kitchen designers AB Virtuves lies tucked away in the lovely Gauja Valley. The owners of the house combined a modern building style with the colours and materials of their environment. The open floor plan offers lots of opportunities for individual material combinations. The concrete look, real-wood elements and stone are the key aspects of the interior design.

The kitchen blends seamlessly with the minimalist interior of exposed concrete and warm wooden floorboards. Black is the main theme, appearing in different materials, textures and structures. The fronts of the kitchen furniture were designed with RAUVISIO brilliant SR lacquer laminate in the matt and scratch-resistant version. That makes them easy to clean, resistant to scratches and, thanks to the laser processing of the edgebands, visually appear as one piece. Generous drawers with integrated recessed handles round out the homogeneous front. Hidden behind them are flexible storage spaces equipped with RAUVISIO grip, a non-slip board integrated into the drawer bottom. For the worktop, and to catch eyes, the designers chose a black, elegant quartz surface with white marbling. The bar counter and shelves show off the third aspect of black with elements made from lacquered oak veneer.

The BORA cooking range with a recessed extractor hood right in front of the window is one of the highlights. There is nothing to block the view of the superb scenery.
