After a successful 32nd edition of the REHAU edgeband symposium in March in Schopfloch, the event was also held for the first time on 15 June 2023 in Pesaro, Italy, at the partner company Biesse. This year's motto "The perfect component" also met with great interest on the Adriatic coast. Around 80 participants, including almost all well-known REHAU and Biesse customers from Italy, accepted the invitation and made the event a great success with promising future perspectives.
The proven event about new products, innovations and developments in the field of edgebanding was pleased to be continued abroad this year: REHAU celebrated the premiere of the edgebanding symposium in Pesaro, Italy, together with the machine developer and manufacturer BIESSE. After an excellent response to the long-standing event series, there was a desire to extend the event and increasingly address international guests. "In the meantime, the Edgeband Symposium has become an annual fixture in the calendars of everyone in the German-speaking world who deals with the topic of edgebanding. It offers participants a great opportunity to exchange ideas and receive first-hand information. With the event in Italy, we were now able to offer this to an international audience as well," says Andrea Bucciarelli, REHAU Manager Sales Interior Solutions Italy. Not only Italian interested parties took part, but also guests from Sweden, Denmark and other European countries travelled to the event.
Topic of the industry: The perfect component
As in March, the motto of the Italian edition of the Edgeband Symposium was "The perfect component". This is a topic that is of great interest to the entire industry. The participants benefited from an exciting programme on the trends and innovations with regard to design, sustainability, digitalisation and qualitative achievements in the field of furniture edgebanding and surface solutions - in theory and practice. The focus was also on the topic of "efficiency". Among other things, Biesse presented the so-called HFS Hydrogen Force System: a new technology for perfect, jointless edge processing. Here, the laser functional layer of the edgeband is activated by the use of hydrogen flame. The technology has a number of advantages: it optimises processing and maintenance times and saves up to 70% energy compared to other processes. In combination with the innovative edgeband RAUKANTEX pigmento, the look and feel can even be transferred to the milling radius. The result is frameless components from a single mould. The guests were able to see the component results and also the possibilities live in the company's own workshops. The company, founded in 1969, today includes 4 production campuses and over 30 showrooms, through which Biesse is able to reach more than 160 countries.

The cooperation between REHAU and Biesse within the framework of the symposium opened up optimal conditions for all participants - a success all along the line. "In close cooperation with REHAU, we were able to organise a successful edgeband symposium that gave our guests from all over the world deep insights and provided them with real added value. The positive response shows us that this was the right step and that there is a great demand for such specialist events," summarised Pierluigi Tacchi, Biesse Sales Director Edgebanding.
Starting signal for a future at international level
The successful start of the edgeband symposium at international level not only confirms REHAU in the continued existence of the event series in German-speaking countries, but also in the further international development of the format. Additional events abroad are planned for the coming years.
